The Kentucky Vocal Union is a chorus that is based in Elizabethtown, Ky.

About

KVU was formed in late 2006 and has competed at the Barbershop Harmony Society International Chorus Competition four times, in the summers of 2008 2009, and 2011 and 2012, placing 10th, 13th, sixth and third. KVU competes in the Cardinal District and has won the title of District Chorus Champion each time it's competed, in the falls of 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2011. The KVU is directed by Aaron Dale, who also arranges much of the group's repertoire.

In 2011, KVU placed 6th and missed a medal by two points—a fate similar to that which befell a chorus with many common members of the Kentucky Vocal Union, the Louisville Times. The Louisville Times' close calls were in 1997 (missed a medal by six points) and 1998 (missed a medal by three points). The KVU won its first medal in 2012, finishing in third place with a 92.0 scoring average. With 39 men on stage, the KVU became one of the smallest choruses ever to medal in a BHS international chorus contest.
