At the first IABS National Convention in Birr, the Sound Assembly Chorus of Wellesley, Massachusetts, donated a four-foot tall trophy to IABS. The trophy was to be given to the Champion quartet each year, with places for 100 years' worth of champions.
The first presentation of the trophy went to the Four In A Bar quartet in 1989.
There is currently no mention of the Wellesley Cup on the official IABS website.
