Pride of Iowa

The Des Moines Chapter, Pride of Iowa Barbershop Chorus is a member of the Central States District of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Under the direction of Randy Wier, the 80+ member chorus performs at various venues throughout the Des Moines Metro area, including schools, sporting events, churches, senior centers and many others. Larger performances include the Iowa State Fair and its Spring Show, held at Hoyt Sherman Place.

History

The Pride of Iowa was first chartered on December 26, 1945, with 17 members and under the choral direction of Ray Jones. The chapter's first show was held in 1948 at the KRNT Radio Theater.
