52eighty, a young men's chorus based in the Denver (Colo.) area, won first place at the 2010 International Youth Contest.
History
Named after Denver's official "mile high" elevation, 52eighty has close ties to the Sound of the Rockies chorus (BHS Mile High chapter).
The chorus was formed in late 2008, and is made up of young singers from three Denver-area Barbershop Harmony Society choruses (Sound of the Rockies, Longs Peak Chorus, and the Denver MountainAires), as well as students from local high schools, colleges and universities. The Sound of the Rockies chorus sponsors 52eighty, providing fundraising and leadership support.
