Heartbeat (sometimes 'Heartbeat UK'), from Marple, Stockport, are the 2015 Sweet Adelines Region 31 Chorus Champions. They were also European Bronze medallists in 2013 and International Champions of the SABS (Spanish Association of Barbershop Singers) convention in 2012.

History

Heartbeat formed in 1998, under the direction of Lesley Carson. Over time the chorus grew, developed both its barbershop and choral repertoire and joined and left British organisation, the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers (LABBS). After a period as an independent group Heartbeat joined Sweet Adelines International as part of Region 31 and competed for the first time in 2008.

In 2010 Heartbeat appointed multi-award winning quartet member and LABBS singing judge Nancy Kelsall as director. Achieving a score of 607 in 2012 enabled Nancy to achieve accreditation as a master director, and in 2013, the chorus entered the large chorus category and achieved a bronze medal with a score of 625. Although they were unable to compete in Hawaii, in 2015 they became national champions, with a score of 654, winning a place at International in Las Vegas in 2016.
