Musical Island Boys
Musical Island Boys is the Barbershop Harmony Society's 2006 International Collegiate Quartet Champion, BHNZ's 2007 National Quartet Champions and 2014 International Quartet Champion.
Quartet Members
The quartet have never changed their line up since they were established in 2002. It's members are:
- Tenor: Jeff Hunkin
- Lead: Marcellus (Lusa) Washburn
- Bari: William Hunkin
- Bass: Matthew Gifford
Jeff and William Hunkin are brothers. All four members began singing barbershop together during their time at Tawa College, Wellington NZ.

2004 Pan-Pacific Quartet Champions
2006 International Collegiate Champions (first collegiate quartet champion from outside of the USA)
2004, 2007 and 2010 BHNZ Quartet Champions
All 4 members also competed in the 2007, 2009 & 2011 International BHS Chorus contests, placing 11th, 10th & 7th respectively, with Vocal FX (BHNZ). Matt, Will and Jeff also competed with Vocal FX in 2016, placing 6th.
Lusa lives in Melbourne, Australia while Matt, Jeff and Will all live in the Wellington region of New Zealand. Jeff is now co-director of Vocal FX, alongside Charlotte Murray.
Matt is an official BHS singing judge and, notably, was the first BHS singing judge from outside of North America.
Musical Island Boys join Max Q (2007) and Town and Country Four (1963) who placed second three times in a row and went onto win the gold.
